Coffee Brew Ratio Calculator
Calculate coffee dose or water amount from a standard brew ratio. Ratios are educational starting points—not absolute laws for every bean.

How the calculator works
Pick a ratio written as coffee:water by weight (for example 1:16 means 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water). Enter either coffee grams or water amount depending on the mode, then calculate the missing value.
For water, milliliters and grams are treated as approximately equal at typical kitchen temperatures. That approximation is useful for home brewing scales and kettles; it is not a laboratory density claim for every temperature.
Invalid or empty numbers show an alert and clear any previous result so you do not keep stale math on screen.
Typical ranges (educational, not absolute)
- Many filter methods start near 1:15–1:17.
- Some immersion brews start a little stronger.
- Espresso beverage ratios on the order of 1:2 are common educational starting points for yield versus dose—they do not replace machine manuals or dialing-in practice.
What this tool does not do
- It does not sell products or recommend brands.
- It does not create an account or mailing list signup.
- It does not promise café flavor, caffeine amounts, or health effects.
